HBNSW ANNUAL AWARDS - CRITERIA

DON CLOUGH, OAM - AWARD

 

This award was created by the Harness Breeders NSW Committee to honour a much respected,  gifted horseman and Administrator.

Don was a Trainer, Driver, Owner and Breeder – founder of Golden Gate Stud, Canowindra NSW.  He also:

  • Served on the Board of Penrith HRC

  • A member of Harness Racing Industry Consultative Group representing the TAB Clubs

  • A founding member of the NSW Stud Masters Association (now Harness Breeders NSW)

  • President and long serving member of Harness Breeders NSW 

Previous Winners of this Award include Brad Hewitt, Graeme Bullock and Tony Dumesny.

Recipients criteria

1.  The NOMINEE must be a current financial member of HBNSW during the race season of that Award year.

2.  As per Don – active in all aspects of Harness Racing.

Nominations are called for from HBNSW Members, these nominations are  then voted on by the HBNSW Committee to decide the winner.

HBNSW HORSE OF THE YEAR AWARDS

1.  The BREEDER of the horse must be a current financial member of HBNSW during the race season of that Award year.

2.  NSW Starts only

3.  Three (3) points for a win

4.  Two (2) points for second place

5.  One (1) point for third place

6.  Four (4) points for Metropolitan win

7.  Five (5) points for a Group 1 win

PACING AND TROTTING BROODMARE AWARDS

PROGENY

 

1.  The BREEDER of the horse must be a current financial member of HBNSW during the race season of that Award year.

2.  NSW Starts only

3.  Two (2) points for a win

4.  Five (5) points for a Metro win

5.  Two (2) points for a Country win

6.  Five (5) points for a Group 1 win

7.  Three (3) points for Group win (other than Group 1)

8.  Two (2) points for win in races over $20,000

STALLION OF THE YEAR AWARD

The OWNER/SYNDICATE MANAGER of the horse must be a current financial member of HBNSW during the race season of that Award year.

  •  Stallion must have physically stood in NSW for the two previous seasons (season of award and previous season). 

  •  Stallion must have been made NSW Breeders Challenge eligible for the previous two seasons. 

  •  Only progeny conceived whilst the Stallion Stood in NSW are eligible for inclusion. 

  •  Progeny conceived with Frozen or Chilled Semen from NSW Registered Stallions standing outside of NSW are ineligible. 

  •  Top 10 Stallions are to be selected from the list based on progeny prizemoney earnings. 

  •  There will be points awarded for total prizemoney, winners to starters and wins per winner. 

  •  10 points will be awarded to the leader of each category and subsequent points will be awarded as a ratio to that Stallion's result.
