MARES DOWRY SCHEME - RACE DATES

The Harness Breeders NSW Mares' Dowry Scheme is currently accepting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from HBNSW Members.

This EOI period will remain open until the end of December. If a sufficient number of EOI's are received from Members, the Scheme will officially launch on 1 January 2027.

 

Upon its successful launch, this initiative aims to establish a strategic calendar of race dates spread throughout New South Wales (NSW) to incentivise the ongoing racing and future breeding of quality female standardbreds. Under the proposed framework, 100 dedicated "Dowry Scheme" races will be programmed per year over a three-year period (1 January 2027 to 31 December 2029) across metropolitan, provincial, and country tracks. This structure ensures local owners have accessible, regional opportunities for their mares to earn valuable Dowry Scheme credits.

These accumulated credits will provide vital financial support for the mares' eventual transition into breeding. Once the required EOI threshold is met, the comprehensive schedule distributing the 100 races across key regional racing hubs —will be published here well in advance of the new year kickoff.
